Welcome to CALGreenTraining.com, your resource for CALGreen training and consulting services. Our staff of green building professionals can help you learn about the new standards and how they effect the building industry in California.
What is CALGreen?
The California Green Building Standard Code, also known as CALGreen was introduced as a voluntary program under title 24, part 11 of the Cailifornia Building Standard Code in 2008. A new version of the code was published in January 2010. This new code takes effect January 1st 2011 and includes both voluntary and mandatory measures for building in California.
The intent of CALGreen is to encourage more sustainable and environmentally friendly building practices for the health and safety of our future. Requirements defined in the new code place limits on substances that can cause harm to our environment, encourage conservation of our natural resources, and promote the use of efficient materials and equipment.
What is CALGreen?
The CalGreen Building Code Reference Standard was developed and is distributed by the California Building Standards Commission as a means of introducing the 2010 California Green Building Standards Code, which is Part 11 of the California Building Standards Code in Title 24 of the California Code of Regulations. Part 11 is also known as the CALGreen Code. The contents of our program will provide information as to the application of the California Green Building Standards Code and how to use it.
It is critical to understand that this code will be effective throughout California and apply to most all new building design and construction beginning on January 1, 2011. Even prior to the development of this training program CalGreen training personnel has been conducting introductory training throughout California in recognition of the critical importance of the new requirements meant to encourage green building design and green construction practices.
Our training should be helpful, but it is not a substitute for studying the code itself. An online version of the CALGreen Code is available through the California Building Standards Commission website - http://www.bsc.ca.gov/default.htm/
